ABOUT US

In 2017, while serving as a Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Jacynth Johnson started a girls group to support female youth.
This group aimed to mentor and lift both the self-esteem and classroom confidence of young girls. This work grew from empowering twenty-five teens to now having empowered over one-hundred fifty youth girls. I AM RARE Foundation merges Jacynth Johnson's love for education with her passion for empowering youth.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
I AM RARE Foundation believes in empowering the next generation of women through the power of education and mentorship and by forging strategic partnerships with families and the broader community. We believe youth girls have tremendous potential to positively impact their school, community and the world at large.
